Methods of cleaning a greasy & oily engine? - heavy duty degreaser

My brother had only one engine swap on his car. Same engine has been completely renovated and forged another component, etc. So I decided to break with the old engine and tinkering. It was so oily and greasy, which I wanted to leave to the streets to be angry. I am not the right tools with me ... all that I is in the hall is a heavy degreaser. Methods of cleaning it? I've heard, Pepsi, an engine clean lol.
